Handcyclists Team Up with XBS in Fundraiser
Charlotte, NC - April 17th, 2009
Two Charlotte wheelchair rugby players, sponsored by XBS Global, will join ASAP - the Adaptive Sports and Adventure Programs of Carolinas Rehabilitation, in their 10th Annual Cycle to the Sea Fundraiser on April 23rd through the 25th.
The Cycle to the Sea event - where athletes with physical disabilities obtain individual pledges in support of their 180 mile ride from Charlotte, NC to N. Myrtle Beach, SC - raises program funds and overall awareness. Most of the athletes participating in the ride - will power their way to the shore without the use of legs - some without sight. It's a remarkable ride.
ASAP focuses on abilities verses disability, and provides instruction, equipment and opportunity for physically challenged youth and adults across the Carolinas to participate in sports, recreational and outdoor activities. It is the primary sponsor for the Carolina Crash - a competitive quad rugby team and a number of athletic and recreational programs and events.
XBS, a merchant services provider, has long supported grassroots efforts in athletics for individuals of all ages with physical disabilities including direct program development in both Ohio and NC.
